Ipoh-Putrajaya-PJ-Banting-KK-Lahad Datu

that has been my journey since 28th Dec and it just crossed my mind that i am going to do my counting down to 2010 in KK airport. *_*

and so the 1st of Jan 2010 literally marks the start of my new life in a new place, not to mention a new year.

*call me a drama queen*

indeed, God has His way to get me out of Ipoh and i really thank God for all the connections. my collegue-to-be is my friend's friend's friend. and i got a coursemate from LD and she is posted back to a school there, although that school is not really near to my school. then i got friends whom i met in camps over the past four years in uni who are either from Sabah or working in Sabah.

i began to see that God has really gone ahead of me to prepare the place for me. and yup, the one month in Klang is like some teaching practice to prepare me to go Sabah.. far far far away from home.. to deal with the awkwardness and to adapt and adjust. haih.

anyway, i am looking forward to the new adventure in LD, a place which many of my family and friends knew nothing about. i am looking forward to decorate my new 'home', my new table in the staffroom .. and of course, i am looking forward to Chinese New Year! ;)

what else? maybe i can print my own postcards and snail-mail them to my family and friends. ;)

happy thoughts, jiaaaaaa! Happy thoughts!

Email/text/FB me your home address coz' i want to send you some snail-mails!!!!!

updates while there's still access to internet.

i am flying off on the 31st of Dec 8.15pm. Most likely will be spending a night in the airport, and stepping on the land of Lahad Datu on Fri, 1130am.

sigh.

i don't know what to say.
i'm the only chinese among the 17 who will be sent 'oversea' to the boarding schools in sabah, sarawak and labuan. all of them will be teaching Pendidikan Islam except me and two teaching BM and Geo and History.

When i realised i'm the only chinese(not to mention a christian).... i was like... 'wahlao... God, you are so hebat... but why me??!'

oh Jiaaaaaa...
happpy thoughtssss!!!!!!

i'm weighing my things...

the limit of check-in baggage is 20kg for MAS and 15kg for Air Asia. mine now is about 17kg after weighing the luggage and every smaller bags of things, one by one. hmmm, i don't know whether i'm flying by MAS or AA....
not bringing my laptop but bringing 450D. the backpack should be ok, plus the camera bag.

there is a new jimo song by Leona Lewis called Happy.

Bleeding Love topped my chart for the past 2 years and the play count in my laptop alone is reaching 1000... not including the times when i played from on my MP3 player. haih. some of the crazy stuffs...

jimo-fimo-finding-nemo...

O' Holy Night

my *whole* family and i went to CGMC for Christmas eve service.
notice the word *whole*
that is the best Christmas gift, from God.
oh well, besides the posting news.
;)

just only checked my mail, saw Ben's email on Simplicity written by Ken Rockwell. and i thought of the pictures i took during the service last night. my baby canon's battery died, so i was back to using my faithful SE 770i. the noise is obvious, cameraphone la, what to expect. I have other carolling pics in baby canon but i don't think i have the time to go through them and copy to my laptop.

the huge luggage with its mouth wide opened is staring at me, waiting for me to fill it up and shut its mouth.

oh jiaaaaaa, how are you?

mixed feelings which is waaaaaaaaaay beyond description. don't make me cry!
anyway, thanks for all the sayangs you all left on my FB. and the texts and the calls. they really helped to boost the excitement. do i sound excited?

i went to straighten my straight hair yesterday.
you know what, last time the tv always showed the Taiwan army shows... how the boys have to go for their national service, then they have to do the crew cut... sleep on bunk beds... wake up at the call of the siren..

and so, when the lady was trimming my hair.... i thought of those boys in the national service doing the crew cut.... cis... kanasai
i'm going for national service. thank God no need crew cut.
hope that there's no more bunk beds.
no call of siren except for the waktu Subuh, or fire drill in the middle of night.
but the sun comes out so much earlier there.

then last night before i dozed off... i thought of my PoT's ~ from Jonah to Nehemiah.

i couldn't help but thinking that God indeed has a really good sense of humour and an amazing skill of giving surprises to people. i did ask 'why God, why larrrr Saaaaabaaaaaaaaaahhhhhh...?'

i am praying that the internet there is ok. and Digi Yellow Man had better not fail me. and the government had better pay me well. :p

there's so much to say. seriously. T_T

ok. i guess i had better go packing..

when the reality begins to sink in

most probably i will be celebrating the New Year 2010 in Lahad Datu and geographically, earlier than you who are 'stuck' in West Malaysia. ;)

i am feeling 'jimo-fimo-finding-nemo' now.
today was the last day of JCard day. my mum bought me a huge luggage. shoes. and a new toy (at least it can kill some boredom away).

this is probably the last batch of 2009 pictures taken in Ipoh Old Town before i start shooting places in Sabah, oh particularly Lahad Datu.

and this is my new toy.
this was taken half an hour ago.

when reality begins to sink it. sigh.

oh Hi, Lahad Datu!

Me: Selamat pagi

the Man: Selamat pagi.

Me: Saya Cik Wong, call untuk semakan posting ke SBP.

the Man: boleh bagi nama?

Me: Wong Jia Hui

the Man: W.O.N.G..... Wong Jia Hui?

Me: ya ya...

the Man: ok. Sekolah Menengah Sains Lahad Datu.

Me: Oh... LahaT (i was thinking, oh, the LahaT in Ipoh... hmmm, i thought it has always been called Lahat, since when it got a new name called LahaD Datu??)

the Man: ya, Lahad Datu. SABAH

Me: Ha.. Sabah???!!

the Man: ya, Lahad Datu. Sabah

;)

Ok. the rest of the conversation is history. I'll be going to Putrajaya for briefing on the 28th. I still have no idea about what's going to happen on that day. KC said maybe they will gather us and send us of to Sabah straight. *pengsan*

and so..

Byebye Ipoh... Helloooooo Lahad Datu! ;)

Tahniah! ~Sekolah Berasrama Penuh~

*jeng jeng jeng jeng....*

after waiting for so many months, finally the posting result is out and i got a job! :p

i am posted to a boarding school which at the moment, i still have no idea which school, don't even know which state. as you can see from the pic above, they only tell me that i am posted to Sekolah Berasrama Penuh and there are so many SBP in West Malaysia alone (you can check from Wikipedia). so i called the department dealing with SBP today before lunch hour. it finally got through after trying many many many many times. the lady (she is nice though) told me to wait for the letter because she couldn't check for me as the officer in charge is on leave. (me: ???!!!!!). therefore, the waiting continues as the letter containing the necessary information is taking ages to come.

well, i am quite excited and happy with what i get, despite the known fact that i can be sent to any SBP in any state. LOL. but then hor, i tell you what, there is still STAR right outside my housing area. haha. the chances of getting STAR is one out of sixty *my probability sucks, so i just use the simpler one*. Not too bad, right? anyway, i shall not have high hopes of getting STAR. hehe. :p

oh my mum is very happy with the posting result though. she said i don't need to think so much about what to wear to school. oh well, quite true, right?

looking at the more serious stuff...
FES prophetic call no.5 ~ to break down walls of prejudice against majority neighbour

that is really a challenge to me. if you know me well enough. i guess it will be harder for me if i am posted to a matriculation centre. just to be honest. haha. but getting into SBP is definitely a good start because there wasn't much 'breaking down of walls' during my uni days, not to mention primary and secondary school days.

i am waiting to settle this posting stuff so that i can move to my next agenda which is to get my camera. my mum has nodded her head on that and is willing to make that stretch to get one that is better than D3000. hehe. i'll be heading to Poon Photo in town to check up the stuff one of these days.

gee. i heard some noise. it's dinner time. ;)

it rained the whole day.

i have been back in ipoh for more than a week. oh i thought the posting list will come out on the 17th but who knows, i received forwarded messages from different people telling me that it is only coming out on the 21st. *crap, which is 3 days later*. i wonder where i will end up at. *_*

photoshop. i did my first triptych and i am just looking for 'chances' to print it out. and about that particular photoshop technique ~ it's something i should have done for my KO-K project instead of printing the pictures separately *not that there's anything wrong with it though*. now only i understand what the En. Abbas was trying to say during the lectures on photoshop stuff. guess what, i learned that from the Digital Camera mag which i have been following monthly since this August. :)

while waiting for the 21st of Dec to come, i'm....
  1. still doing some research on what camera to buy. Nikon D3000, D5000, D40(x), or D90*in my dream*; Canon EOS 1000D, 450D.
  2. continuing with my 'favaorite' pastime ~ to peel garlic and peanuts.
  3. still driving like a mad fella who doesn't like people getting into her way. :p
  4. not thinking where i will end up *pretty ignorant at times*
  5. trying to play more with photoshop.
  6. looking forward to tonight's steamboat makan *curse the heavy rain*
;)

the Bug and the Advent and the Christmas

*can't you see that i'm busy?*
it's a pleasant surprise when i checked the picture.
the bug so happened flew pass as i pressed the shutter.
*teeheeee*

they said the 'list' is coming out in a few days time. Thursday, they said.
and i don't know what to expect. *whatever*

***
'Notoriously JOY-ed!'
The Advent.
Are you living as if Jesus did not come and is not coming again?
***

my family and i had a good laugh when we talked about many years ago how me and my siblings used to wait for Santa Claus to come during Christmas. We put baskets at the end of our beds, we 'fought' for the biggest basket...(you know, let's say you have a small basket, then Santa initially thought of giving you a big gift since you behaved well thru'out the year and mana tahu he had to give you a smaller gift coz the big one can't fit into your small basket...) hehe, and we did receive gifts from Santa@my parents. LOL. they are really good in creeping into rooms. Oh well, and now you know SIZE (of the basket) doesn't really matter anyway.

at the mean time.. while waiting for this Thursday to come...
life is the same ~ back to peeling garlic and being a waitress..
and acting like a boss.
*_*

colours and moods.

Orange.
the warmth. the light. the presence.
the mood: JIMO.

*dup dup dup*
the light is green. the bottles are green.
the mood: we have the E's. Elated. Euphoric.

you painted me red.
we are hanging side by side.
the mood: celebration for the freedom we (I) have.

oh You

without You my world slips away

The things of this world will fade
Still You are all that i need

Preview to the 400 over pictures I have taken during my month in Klang.

since i am still waiting for the DHL man to come *yes, i have waited for 4 hours*.. i might as well use the time to put up some pictures...
*don't have time to edit the pictures yet..*

This is the DHL box.

This is Ashok and Yu Chan (the Korean boy). This was taken during the Christmas Bazaar.

This is Jia Wei and Yu Sheung (the Korean girl). This was taken yesterday - the last day of school. Students can come in their own clothes for the last day of school.

these are the F2 boys I taught.
for two periods of Science je..
clockwise from top left: Vee Sion, Guo Chan, Guo Pin and Hao Min

there are more pictures on Christmas Bazaar, Primary Class Party, Secondary Class Party, random shots, Christmas presentation by Primary students of both schools, Interhouse Music Competition for Secondary students, the makan time in Klang and the budak-budak in the house, suitlin's bday at Desa Park City, etc etc etc..

me is setting up tabung for my new camera. heeee.. :p

on a cloudy Saturday morning

i am waiting to complete my final assigned task in school ... which is to settle the parcel and arrange for the DHL workers to come and collect it and then send it to Sri Lanka. sigh. it took me such a long time to collect the papers from the students, then seal them in the DHL box, and fill in the shipment bill... and now, waiting for the people to come and collect between 9-12.. i have been sitting in the front desk office since 8.45am and i am feeling super sleepy.

yesterday was my last working day in school. two days of class parties. tonnes of food. a lot of pictures in my phone. and of course, i learned many new things too. Example ha, Sri Lanka doesn't have a postcode, DHL got their own planes that's why they charge more and the service is faster, GDEX tumpang other people's plane that's why it's cheaper and of coz' slower; the smart board thingy and the softwares are fun to use and it does help the students to learn better *given that you're creative enough*; there's always a cultural difference between Int Schs and the Private Schs which follow the Msian syllabus, sometimes you found yourself caught in the state of 'double standard'; the non-selective issue is quite a thing to me because the fact is, natural selection and survival of the fittest are the game of the world *oh, we are in the world but not of the world*; i need to do something about my classroom management, coz i think i always screw up my 'first impression'; you gained the world, but you lost your own life...

my thoughts are all jumbled up.

-wasted on a friday night-

Thursday, December 3, 2009

what is my stand?

am i compromising too much?

they say 'stand up and speak up'. why am i not doing that?

classroom management. discipline. do we really need to be so strict and ganas all the time? and i mean ALL the time, even if it's the final week of school? this cannot, that cannot..
Or is it because I am too 'cincai'.. this ok, that also ok...?

positive reinforcement. but look, who is instilling fear in students?

non-selective. but do we really have a choice? they have to leave because of poor academic performance. and there are other better students on the waiting list. tomorrow is their last day in school. i felt their jimo-ness although they always act tough.

selfishness. sometimes it's nicely packaged in the form of selflessness, because you're aiming for something else. Something which you think is more important for you in the end.

peacock. panther. dolphin. owl. which one do you identify with?

it's time to go 'dupdupdup'

class party on Thursday and Friday!!
;)
